Leader Trait — Knock Knock[]

When Negan makes an attack (including attacks made in enemies' turns), the attack will put a stack of 'dread' mark on up to 10 closest visible enemies. Up to [x] stacks of 'dread' mark can be exerted on one enemy. Each stack enables each survivor to deal +[y]% total damage to the marked enemies. Stacks last 1 turn.

If an enemy isn't killed by 2 attacks or more within one survivors' turn, Negan will have a [z]% chance to get an extra Charge Point for each non-lethal attack received by this enemy. As a leader, all teammates gain these bonuses.

Level Stacks % Total Damage Charge Point Chance
3 3 60% 26%
4 3 70% 29%
5 3 80% 32%
6 3 85% 35%
7 4 85% 38%
8 4 90% 41%
9 4 95% 44%
10 4 100% 47%

How Outlaw Negan's LT works[]

Note that Outlaw Negan's LT was adjusted in update 6.2 "Small update" (Oct 2023)

The Dread Marks[]

When Outlaw Negan attacks an enemy (regardless if it dies or not), the 10 closest walkers will get a dread mark, which is shown with a “sniper scope” sign above the walkers' heads. Depending on his LT level, the dread mark can be accumulated either to 3 or 4. Unless Outlaw Negan is the team leader, it can be difficult to grow the dread mark to more than 1 or 2 (as Outlaw Negan himself rarely can be able to make more than 2 attacks per turn). Tip: if Outlaw Negan is not the team leader, try to move and attack with Outlaw Negan first to activate the dread marks, so the other two members of the team can benefit from them.

In the picture below, Outlaw Negan (LT lvl 4) is the leader, and both Ezekiel and Tyreese have made one attack each, so the remaining opponents now have a 2/3 dread mark:

Enemies marked with a dread mark will get the total damage boosted by a significant amount, from 60-100% for every dread mark, meaning up to +400% total damage at max LT.

The dread marks are always removed at the start of the player's turn, regardless of if they are placed on the player turn or during the walkers' turn from an overwatch attack. This means that while dread marks can also be placed on overwatch attacks during the walker turn, they usually have no or very limited effect as they are almost immediately removed.

As marked walkers are killed, the 10 walker limit is refreshed, so it's very possible on crowded maps to have walkers with varying amounts of dread marks.

Getting Charge Points on Non-lethal Attacks[]

If an enemy is not killed, every attack after the first (on that particular walker), will give a chance of getting a charge point. Note that if Outlaw Negan is the team leader, EVERY team member gets a chance of getting a charge point.

Example: Outlaw Negan is the team leader, with two assaults in the team. First, the first assault attacks a group of 5 walkers, none of which dies. The second assault attacks these 5 walkers (and again nobody dies). Every team member now gets 5 rolls of getting a charge point.

This mechanic means that Outlaw Negan works especially well as the team leader when there is at least one assault in the team, either one assault together with Yumiko, or with two assaults, and obviously on maps with many walkers.

Even better, you can use him as a leader along with heroes that are capable of attacking multiple times per turn to gain the biggest number of attacks with the most stacks of dread mark. Hilltop Maggie, Fighter Rosita, Michonne, Guardian Carol (her double attack will give you two stacks of DM) with weapons giving them bonus attacks on charge create a deadly high-damage combo.
