Leader Trait — Explosive Bullets[]

Level | Target's Total Health | Stun Chance |
---|---|---|
3 | 40% | 18% |
4 | 50% | 21% |
5 | 60% | 24% |
6 | 70% | 27% |
7 | 85% | 30% |
8 | 100% | 33% |
9 | 115% | 36% |
10 | 130% | 40% |
How to use Shane[]
Shane is one of the coolest Heroes in the game, with his ability to blow up large amounts of walkers. This ability, however, decreases drastically as walker levels get higher, and in practice he is rarely the best Hero, especially as hunters often will have difficulties getting charged, which Shane really needs to be useful. On Last Stand weeks with Connie as the leader, he does however shine, and it's great fun playing him on those rare occasions.
As Shane's leader trait requires that the enemy dies, he should be rerolled and badged for maximum damage. This means Ruthless, Marksman, Sure Shot and Critical Aim are the best traits for him, and luckily he already has three of those so only Revenge needs to be rerolled to Critical Aim. Unlike most other heroes, it makes sense to keep Sure Shot instead of Lucky, as it increases his chance of critical hits, and this trait goes well with the Piercing Wrecker Shotgun. For badges put 3 Damage and 3 Critical Damage badges. Shane benefits most of Carol's Cookies. If you prefer to use a non-piercing weapon, you should reroll Sure Shot for Lucky or some other trait as Sure Shot is worthless without Piercing.
How Shane's Leader Trait Works[]
If Shane kills a walker, it will blow up, and the it will damage adjacent walkers with the exploding walker's health x the factor of his LT. This factor increases a lot with the level, so Shane definitely starts to shine when he's at level 8 or above. Then a blown up regular walker will kill all adjacent regular walkers (of the same level). Note that the explosion damage is delivered before regular damage! This means that you can get cascading explosions in good circumstances. Example:
Shane shoots against 3 walkers in a line, being of the same level. The first one is damaged to a very low health while the two others are at full health. Shane now shoots against all 3 - with the damaged one being the main target of the attack, doing a small amount of damage on everyone, but enough to kill the main target of the attack. It explodes, and the explosion causes the next one in line to lose all its health. The small body shot damage is then enough to cause it to explode in turn, blowing up the third walker as well.
To make the most out of Shane, it makes a lot of sense to have incendiary weapons, as this will help a lot in taking down the health of the walkers to a low enough level so that Shane can blow it up. It's essential to have a good understanding of how much damage Shane and the other team members make, so that you can decimate the health of key walkers sufficiently so that Shane then can blow up a big bunch of walkers. It's also best if you can blow up a tank or some other special walker, as their high health will mean every walker around them will get blown up. A great combo is also to use Shane toogether with Tyreese, as walkers health will be reduced to one (but they won't get killed) while inside Tyreese's circles.
The explosion can also stun walkers that didn't die, but this is a much less useful feature, as regular walkers will usually die and special walkers with more health will be stun resistant.
Note that walkers that are killed from the explosion do not give XP. They do, however, give points in Last Stand, as well as charge points.
